What is possible through collaboration?
The League of Innovative Schools is proud to offer this unique opportunity for both high-school and middle-level educators to come together for a day of learning and sharing at Bonny Eagle High School and Bonny Eagle Middle School. As a district, SAD 6 has been deeply committed to making significant changes in order to improve student outcomes, and they will share the many ways they have leveraged the power of collaboration towards that effort. The Bonny Eagle team will also highlight specific, researched-based Assessment For Learning strategies that they are implementing, through a multi-year collaborative effort with faculty at the University of Southern Maine, to raise student engagement and achievement.
In addition, middle-level educators will visit 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classrooms spending most of the day working and interacting with other middle school staff. This will allow teachers and leaders to dive more deeply into the particular challenges of implementing proficiency-based practices in middle schools. At the same time, high school educators will spend much of the day at the high school, visiting classes, learning with high school leaders and teachers, and considering school improvement from a high-school perspective. We will also gather in small-groups to interact and learn from students, who will share their perspective on collaboration, proficiency, and effective teaching and learning.
A light breakfast and full lunch will be provided. This event is free and open to all faculty from schools who are members of the League of Innovative Schools.
